A woman preparing her own meals, just like you should be.

Preparing your meals is better than eating out!

To live healthily and lose weight, you must be willing to spend time to ensure you are eating right. This means preparing your own meals. Pre-cooked meals and restaurant take-out are faster and easier but negatively impact both your wallet and your health. By cooking your meals, you ensure that you know what is entering your body and save money in the long run.

The Appeal of Luxury

Many automakers appeal to customers’ love for looks and features while cutting back on safety and durability. Some automakers do not even have an identity for their cars. Instead, they imitate other well-established brands to make sales. Most consumers do not research the history and fall for the cosmetics. Then, they end up spending more, in the long run, on repairs and dealing with the resulting headaches.

Businesses want to make money.

The automaker industry, like all businesses, focuses on making money by cutting costs at consumers’ expense. They want to get you in a car by selling whatever features are appealing. “Cool features” and “great deals” appeal to consumers who are looking to save money on an initial purchase by getting qualified for the smallest possible loan. When the consumer realises they did not get a good deal, it is usually too late;  they have already committed and signed the contract. The dealer is no longer friendly but ready to take your pockets and emotions for a roller-coaster ride.

The restaurant industry is no different.

Preparing you own meals is much healthier than dining at expensive restaurants or unhealthy fast food chains.

Fast-food outlets and other restaurants are in business primarily to make money, period. They are not really interest in people’s health, only in preparing foods that appeal to people’s tastebuds. Unfortunately for consumers, this means packing sugars, salts, monosodium glutamate (MSG) and other additives into their dishes. Our body finds it hard to live without these additives once they enter our system. As a result, we crave and can become addicted to these food products. These products also come relatively cheap because companies source their ingredients at low costs. These ingredients are also likely to be of poor quality due to untimely farming.

The reality is that these foods are slow killers, and addiction to them can be worse than recreational drugs. Saving time and money at the cost of our health is not worth it. We lose out on time to live in the end. There is no point in working hard to save money if that money cannot fix the resulting health issues later in life. We might think that we save money by eating out, but we don’t. What we do save is time.

Why I decided to stop eating out.

My family made dietary changes because I was borderline diabetic, and my wife had issues with her blood test results. My wife struggled with her weight for many years. When we decided to stop eating out, things miraculously changed. We spent more time planning, preparing, and cooking, but we saved a lot of money. She reduced her meal portions and eliminated sugar, combined with daily walking (nothing close to the number of miles I run), and lost 40 to 50 pounds in 5 months. Our family doctor then advised her not to lose any more weight. Our follow-up medical results were excellent!

The result of eating what we cook is incredible and may surprise others. I love pizza but stay away from it because of the cheese and grease. The rest of my family started having the urge to eat pizza, so they decided to eat out for the New Year. We went and had pizza only to find out that we lost the former taste we had for it. Our tastebuds had adapted to enjoying the taste of naturally produced and prepared foods. It took a while but, because we patiently and consistently did it, the crossover was successful. Preparing the food we eat is now our lifestyle because we control what goes into it to ensure it is healthy.
